Unit 79 was first chartered in 1925 and re-chartered in 1952. The Unit has a long history of not only supporting the missions of the American Legion but also of service to the community. The Unit accepts donations, through its Poppy Program, each Memorial Day weekend which are used to help disabled veterans. The Unit also sponsors food drives for the "Bread Box", a community food bank, and sponsors young ladies desiring to attend "Girls State" each year.
The unit holds it regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM (except for July and August) and visiting members are always welcome.
